On the dating: The attribution to the Vedic sage is traditional. Modern scholarship treats the famous palm-leaf reading collections as compilations far later than their claimed antiquity, and no critical text exists.

The famous Bhrigu reading tradition — held here as one genuine old nāḍī-style print beside modern Hindi compilations, and the roster keeps them apart.

The Yogāvalī (Khemraj 1910) seats nāḍī-style yogas and longevity — and supplied a headline negative finding: the only literal कालसर्प string in the whole corpus is here, meaning an actual snake in a past-life narrative, not a chart pattern (part of why Kāla-Sarpa doṣa is graded untraceable-to-the-classics in our library). The Bhṛgusūtra material transmitted with this family is where the corpus’s real 7th-house delay claim attaches — to the Sun, not Saturn.
