The munthā's house — The second bhāva — Dhana

To the second bhāva the texts assign what is gathered and held: accumulated resources, the family one is born into (kuṭumba), food and nourishment, speech (vāk), and learning held in memory in some transmissions. Structurally it sits outside the kendra and trikoṇa frames; its one technical class is māraka — the āyurdāya chapters count it among the houses examined when the span of life is computed, a role the tradition hedges with many conditions and never reads in isolation.
Weighing Dhana follows the general rule: the state of its lord — dignity, house placement, associations — then the occupants of the bhāva, then the aspects reaching it. The computed chart beside this passage carries those facts. The texts read a supported second as fluent speech and steady means, an afflicted one as strain around holding and saying; which reading applies is decided by the chart, not assumed.
